Homeless Ministry: Restoring Lives West Benefit Dinner and Concert Oct. 26th

Thought you might want to save the date (10/24) for a special dinner and concert near the future site of the Restoration Zone (Restoring Lives West drop-in center for homeless and at-risk youth) .

You will be surprised to see how close this is to Lifechurch and other key outreach opportunities we have committed to as a church: LaGore Boys and Girls Club (site of Lifechurch MEGAsports Camp) and Adopt a Block (Mike Hooven and friends). Breaking the yoke, and being filled

Which ones above received mercy? Have you?

A faithful brother of mine, Scott Himes, spoke today at LifeChurch about fasting as an act of worship. Then the intent of worship grew broader to include any act of self denial that leads to finding our creator. When do we get to deny ourselves...? When the traffic is slow, when we have a plan, when we surrender our rights to give, when we break the "yoke of oppression" another carries, as we respond to God. Haven't we met the mercy of God, as others have done that for us?

This is, in fact, the ONLY fast that pleases God; a fast where we MEET our creator (Isaiah 58:6-8). One thought in particular touched me personally; how absurd would it be for something we create (a wood project, a computer program, a clay pot) to turn and tell us how we should proceed. Would it not be better for that pot to turn and ask "How shall I respond that I may be filled for your purpose?" or "Have your way Lord, I belong to you."
